Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson Both lawyers. As a young girl of just five, she moved to Oxfordshire and attended the Dragon School. Emma was aspired to become a professional actor since she was six. She studied at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford, an acting school which offers classes for part-time students. The actress had performed in several Stagecoach and school productions by the time she was ten years old. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the movie adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was first cast in 1999. Emma was discovered by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after auditions of 8. They were chosen to play the three lead characters Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's first cinematic appearance was as a part of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It was the year's top grossing film, breaking records during the opening day and first weekend. Reviewers have been highly lauding the film and the performance by three young actors. The highly distributed British paper The Daily Telegraph called her performances admirable. Emma later won five awards in recognition of her work in the film.
